How this calculator works

Reconstitution arithmetic starts with total mass and final solution volume. Enter the liquid volume from your source information. Changing that input changes concentration and the volume corresponding to the same target mass. This tool does not suggest a liquid type, mixing technique or amount of liquid.

Formula

Concentration = total mass ÷ final liquid volume. At a fixed target mass, target volume = target mass ÷ concentration.

Arithmetic example — not a recommendation

Arithmetic example only: 5 mg in 2 mL gives 2.5 mg/mL; the same 5 mg in 4 mL gives 1.25 mg/mL. For a user-entered 250 mcg target, the corresponding volumes are 0.1 mL and 0.2 mL.

Scope and assumptions

The entered volume is treated as the final solution volume. Added liquid and final volume may differ. Solubility, compatibility, sterile handling and stability are outside this calculator.

Mass is normalized to mcg; volume stays in mL. Where shown, U-100 means 100 scale units per mL. Read all formulas and precision rules.

Questions about this tool

Does this tell me how much liquid to add?

No. Liquid volume is a required input from you. The calculator reports the arithmetic implied by that volume and does not choose a reconstitution amount.

Why does the target volume change when liquid volume changes?

For the same total mass, increasing final volume reduces concentration. A larger volume then represents the same target mass. The Formula Inspector shows the relationship for your entries.
